Historically, Apple has produced some of the best computing devices for editing video, audio, and other multimedia content. For this reason, iMacs have been some of the most popular computers among students, animators, visual artists, video editors, and graphic designers. However, as Apple improved its offerings, MacBooks became just as powerful as their desktop counterparts. Therefore, both the MacBook Air and MacBook pro are great options for video editing.
Before we look at the best MacBook for video editing, let’s examine at some of the important specs and computing requirements to look for in your next laptop computer:
The specs you need for quality video editing will largely depend on the kind of editing you need to do. For example, 4k video editing system requirements are far more stringent than the minimum specs for video editing. In any case, there are a few elements that any video editor should look for in a MacBook or similar laptop computer: CPU, RAM, Hard Drive, and Graphics Card.
CPU stands for “Central Processing Unit.” The CPU is akin to the internal control hub of your device, where instructions are processed and executed. It is generally comprised of a small chip housed somewhere on your computer’s primary circuit board. Without a processor, your keystrokes, clicks, and other actions would have no effect onscreen or in your device. In essence, the CPU ensures that you can do everything you would expect to do on your computer — from sending an email to editing a video.
Consequently, the power of your CPU can have a major effect on your ability to execute various actions quickly and efficiently. CPU technology is constantly evolving, allowing each new generation of MacBooks to operate faster than previous iterations. The power of your CPU is especially important for video editing, which requires a large percentage of your computer’s processing resources. Therefore, video editing laptop specs often begin and end with the quality of the CPU. Fortunately, Apple designs and manufacturers new CPUs for every generation of MacBooks, ensuring that you get the absolute best processor that the computing world has to offer.
RAM stands for “Random Access Memory.” In layman’s terms, RAM is like your computer’s short-term memory bank. It allows different websites, programs, and applications to store important data for a short period of time. This, in turn, makes it easier for you to execute different actions as quickly as possible. Without sufficient RAM, your computer would need to search for relevant data every time you need to do something.
Typically, if you like to run multiple programs at once (as many people do), you will need to have enough RAM to store data that you’re actively using. Like CPU, RAM has a direct effect on the speed and overall performance of your machine. Apple offers MacBooks with various RAM options to accommodate consumers with different needs. That said, greater RAM storage generally equates to better performance when editing videos.
While RAM allows your computer’s system to manage short-term memory, you will still need a way to store data for the long-term. This is where a hard drives and SSDs (Solid State Drives) come into play. In the past, HDDs (Hard Drive Discs) were the standard way to store information on your computer or even a removable device. However, as storage technology advanced, SSDs became a more popular way to quickly store and access data via flash memory cells.
Apple is always creating MacBook devices that are customizable based on the amount of storage space you need. As a result, you can choose to get a MacBook with HDD or SSD storage. However, you will need a fast hard drive for video editing. Therefore, if you are looking for a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air for video editing, you are better off opting for the faster, more efficient SSD technology.
Graphics cards have often been associated with gaming, but if you are looking for the best laptop for photo and video editing, these cards also play an important role. Commonly known as the video card or GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), the graphics card facilitates the creation and rendering of all kinds of images on your computer. Whether you are viewing photos in your iCloud or recording video content, your graphics card is working hard to make sure it can happen seamlessly.
In many ways, your graphics card serves as a relief to your CPU. If all of your photo and video rendering was left up to the CPU, the performance of other tasks on your computer would inevitably suffer. When it comes to video editing on a MacBook, a strong, built-in GPU ensures that you can create, view, edit, and render videos without experiencing significant slowdown with the rest of your system.
As the lightest and most portable MacBook in the Apple product line, the MacBook Air is an obvious choice for video editing. It packs a lot of power into a small frame, giving both casual and professional video editors the right specs to get the job done. However, the MacBook Air does make a few sacrifices to be so small. As a result, when experts compare the MacBook Air vs. the Pro for video editing, the MacBook Pro almost always comes out on top.
That said, the MacBook Air has all the necessary specs to facilitate seamless video rendering and editing. Ultimately, your ability to edit long, 4k videos will come down to using the right video editing apps. For example, iMovie is the built-in Apple video editing software, though it does not offer as many features as Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro. In short, while the MacBook Air is not quite as powerful as the MacBook Pro when it comes to video editing, you can still get the job done with the right software.
As the most powerful Apple laptop on the market, the MacBook Pro is definitely the best MacBook for video editing. The larger screen, more powerful CPU, and more ample storage options make it the clear winner. However, this still leaves consumers with different options when it comes time to buy a MacBook Pro. So, which is the best MacBook pro for video editing?
In truth, Apple makes it pretty easy to customize your own MacBook Pro. You can choose between different screen sizes, varied storage options, as well as high powered CPUs. At the end of the day, it all comes down to your needs and budget. If you can afford to get the MacBook Pro with the most powerful CPU and maxed out specs, then you can rest assured knowing that you have got a great computing machine for video editing.
Nonetheless, even the baseline, “budget” MacBook Pros are powerful computers. With virtually any iteration of the MacBook Pro, you can handle photo and video editing with ease. In short, any MacBook Pro in the Apple product line could qualify as the best MacBook to buy for video editing.

The MacBook Air and MacBook Pro have dominated the laptop market for years. Thanks in part to their sleek designs, ultra-thin frames, and powerful internal processing, the MacBook product line has proven popular among students, businesses, and regular consumers alike. However, even a high-powered Apple computer could use some accessories and add-ons to make it function even better.
While the MacBook is a powerhouse computer on its own, Apple offers various accessories to provide even greater versatility and a better overall experience for users. The two primary models within the Apple laptop product line — the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro — have varied designs that necessitate unique accessories to meet a wide range of needs. In today’s guide, we will take a closer look at some of the best MacBook accessories to help you choose the top products for your MacBook.
While Apple headphones are not a required accessory for every MacBook owner, they can greatly improve your experience — particularly when it comes to audio and video content. If you frequently listen to music, play video games, or watch videos on your computer, Apple headphones offer a simple and affordable way to enjoy crystal clear audio on virtually any platform. This makes it easier to get the most out of your digital entertainment — without having to sacrifice sound quality.
If you are not sold on the standard Apple headphones, you also have various alternatives to choose from based on your needs and budget. For example, the Apple Airpods product line is great for people who don’t want to get caught up with messy cords. These sleek earbuds sit comfortably in the ear and provide excellent sound quality. Additionally, the dual beamforming microphones and the speech-detecting accelerometer make it easy to make and receive hands-free calls through a Bluetooth-connected smartphone.
Finally, the Beats by Dre models provide some of the best sound quality of any headphones on the market. With long battery life and sweat-resistant materials, the Beats headphones are a great combination for people who really want to hear every note, even while they are on the move. The Apple Beats are ideal for those who like to listen to music while jogging, hitting the gym, or enjoying most other physical activities.
In short, Apple offers different kinds of headphones to meet the needs of just about any consumer. If you just want to listen to music or podcasts while surfing the web, Apple has standard wired headphones (EarPods) for that. Alternatively, if you are looking for a wireless experience that will be more comfortable while you are exercising or on the move, Apple has the Airpods and Beats by Dre models to ensure that you can keep the volume up wherever you go.
While you may not consider USB hubs & adapters as fun MacBook accessories, they can be essential add-ons for many Mac users. Even if you already own a USB C cable, most newer MacBook models do not come with any built-in space to put them. As a result, you will likely need to acquire a USB splitter or hub that can house multiple USB cables at once. Alternatively, you can acquire USB C to USB A adapter cables to plug straight into your MacBook and your USB-ready device.
Even if you are not in need of a multi-USB port, you can still get additional Apple adapters to make your MacBook compatible with a wide range of devices — from tablets to smart TVs. For this, you will need to acquire a multi-port hub that includes ports for USB C, 4K HDMI, and USB 3.0 or higher. This kind of adapter can turn your MacBook into an all-in-one entertainment device.
Since most computer manufacturers are moving away from the old USB C ports, updated hubs & adaptors are still necessary for millions of consumers to connect their legacy devices. As a result, these accessories will continue to be a useful addition for years to come. Even if you do not plan on keeping many of your old devices, it could still help ensure that you can connect your computer to a wide range of products and electronics going forward.
When you invest in a MacBook computer, you will want to keep it in peak condition for as long as possible. Whether you have a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro, scratches and fall damage can gradually take a toll on your computer. Fortunately, a MacBook case can help protect your computer from external scarring or internal malfunction.
That said, no two cases are exactly alike. For example, the MacBook Air sleeve functions as a soft, form-fitting cover secured by a zipper. This makes it easy to store and access your MacBook Air in a matter of seconds. Additionally, many protective sleeves come with interesting designs to show off your personal style. However, while sleeves are great for protecting your MacBook while it is stored in a larger carrying bag, they cannot provide the same degree of protection as a hard case.
Consequently, many MacBook owners combine the protection of a hard case with the ease and comfort of a sleeve. The Apple hardshell cases are comprised of a two-piece layer of protection that snaps into place on your MacBook. It provides maximum protection for both the back of your screen and the bottom of your laptop. Additionally, the bottom portion features vents and open segments to allow heat to escape, while also giving you easy access to all of the device’s ports.
If you work a lot with numbers, you will want to consider getting an Apple Keyboard with a numeric keypad. The numeric keypad version offers a more advanced layout than the traditional keyboard that comes as part of every MacBook. A keyboard with numbers allows users to create spreadsheets or fill out financial documents with much greater efficiency. So, even if you’re current keyboard is functioning just fine, it might still be worth it to acquire a magic keyboard with a numeric keypad to handle certain day-to-day tasks.
This wireless keyboard (often referred to as a “magic keyboard”), allows you to quickly connect to your MacBook and start typing — without the need for any cables or special adapters.
On the surface, the Apple Keyboard with a numeric keypad may appear like any other keyboard accessory, but Apple’s line of magic keyboards stands out in a few important ways. First, they are all Bluetooth-ready and equipped with a rechargeable battery. This way, you will not have to worry about getting tangled up in cables and adapters. Second, Apple is continuously improving the typing experience for its users through new layouts, next-gen typing mechanisms, and debris-resistant designs.
Thankfully, Apple is dedicated to providing all of its customers with an ever-improving lineup of MacBook devices and accessories. The best MacBook accessories are those that can remain useful for years — without the need for constant replacements. Thankfully, with the accessories outlined above, you can ensure that your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro is safe from damage, is compatible with hundreds of different devices, and is ready to perform at peak efficiency for the long-term.

Every year, college students return to campuses with new supplies and equipment to put their best foot forward at school. This includes books, pencils, notebooks, carrying bags, and of course — computers. While there are hundreds, even thousands of options out there for students to pick from, no two computers are exactly alike. This is even true for laptops and desktops from the same manufacturer.
For years, Apple has been one of the primary suppliers of computers for college students. The intuitive MacOS system, sleek design, and enhanced security features make MacBooks and iMacs some of the best all-around computers for students. Additionally, the portability of the MacBook makes it easier to carry around from class to class.
So, this begs a few important questions. How can college students find the right computer to fit their needs? What specific features do MacBooks offer that make them good choices in the classroom? Finally, what is the best MacBook for college students? We will answer all these questions and more, but first, let’s look at why MacBooks are a good fit in a college environment.
When searching for the best laptop for college, many parents and students learn that Apple laptops are among the best choices. While MacBooks are not cheap, they are affordable when you consider what they offer. In fact, when you compare their price-to-performance ratio, MacBooks almost always come out on top, especially for students on a budget. However, it is not always clear exactly why Apple makes the best laptops for university students. Fortunately, it comes down to just a few simple ways in which MacBooks outperform the competition:
MacBooks, particularly the MacBook Air, are some of the lightest laptops on the market. At just 2.75 pounds, the MacBook Air is lighter than almost any other laptop from Apple’s competitors. Alternatively, the MacBook Pro is just over 3 pounds, making it one of the lightest high-powered laptops. Regardless of the model, Apple laptops provide students with increased portability, without making significant sacrifices to performance.
Over the years, Apple has steadily increased the quality of its products, particularly when it comes to portable computers. The line of MacBook products all use the built-in MacOS, which is ideal for fighting spam and viruses. This means that, whether you’re just browsing the web or using your computer for online gaming, you’re less likely to experience malware-related issues with a MacBook than you would be with a PC from another brand.
At the end of the day, most college students will not need to do a lot of heavy lifting with their laptops. Most students will just need to send and receive emails, surf the Internet, create documents and spreadsheets, and keep track of their school schedule. This may not require a lot of processing power, but it does mean that students will spend a large portion of their day on their computers. As a result, the majority of students will prefer user-friendly design over most other features, including processing power and storage (though MacBooks rank well in both). Like the iOS on iPhones and iPads, MacOS is designed with the user in mind.
As previously mentioned, there is an important ratio that every budget computer shopper should consider: performance vs. price. In theory, a higher price should equate to higher performance, but this isn’t always the case. Some computers are overpriced for what they deliver. Fortunately, MacBooks offer a delicate balance between affordability and high-quality performance.
Picking the best MacBook for college can be tough. College students usually want to get a computer that will last for the entirety of their school and experience — if not longer. This means that they need to find the right balance between price and performance. Additionally, they will need to consider the type of processing power they will need on a daily basis.
Fortunately, most students can get by with a standard processor. If you need to handle heavier tasks, like video editing or graphic design, then you may need one of the high-end models. Otherwise, you can probably do everything you need to with one of the basic models.
It is hard to outperform MacBooks, especially when it comes to storage, RAM, and even processing speed. The MacBook Pro offers SSD storage up to 8 TB, while the MacBook Air has local storage up to 2 TB. This means that MacBooks can store all of your favorite photos, videos, and large files — without needing to rely as much on Cloud storage.
RAM ensures that you can open and run multiple programs at the same time without experiencing delays. MacBooks have RAM ranging between 8GB and 32GB. Generally, the higher the RAM, the better the overall performance of the machine. While most students can get by with 8GB and have very few issues, higher RAM models are more likely to last for the entirety of a student’s academic career.
Though MacBooks have not always been regarded as gaming machines, that has started to change in recent years. Now, MacBooks can handle complex online game designs with ease. Additionally, students have the performance they need to handle most school tasks, including Excel spreadsheets and document creation.
The MacBook Air is the best model for college students on a budget. The MacBook Air generally costs less than the more powerful MacBook Pro models. Though the MacBook Pro is still affordable, its price is higher to compensate for the increased size and processing power.
Regardless of which model you choose, MacBooks are competitively priced. You can get most MacBook models without breaking the bank, especially if you buy refurbished Apple computers. In short, the wide range of MacBook models means that college students can perfectly balance performance and price based on their individual needs.
When purchasing MacBooks for students, you’ll want to consider the overall measurements and screen size. Though the MacBook Air offers the smallest all-around machine, you can also get a MacBook Pro with smaller dimensions for the best combination of performance and portability. Here’s a list of the current MacBook sizes to choose from:
Over the years, Apple has worked to shrink the weight and thickness of its MacBook computers, while still maintaining the large screen size. This ensures that college students no longer need to lug a heavy computer around campus. Additionally, the smaller dimensions make it easier to fit MacBooks into backpacks, purses, and most other handbags.
When it comes down to it, choosing between the Apple MacBook Air and MacBook Pro will require a careful consideration of your needs and budget. The MacBook Air is more portable, but still retains high processing power, thanks in large part to the Apple M1 chip. Whether you need to conduct online research for med school or spend hours coding, the MacBook Air is a solid option.
That said, the MacBook Pro does come with more storage, larger display options, and more powerful processors. This makes the Pro version ideal for video and photo editing, as well as other CPU-intensive activities. As a result, the MacBook Pro is best for college students who know they will need a little extra power to handle more complex tasks.

Have you ever been nervous when pressing the Checkout button with a refurbished product in the cart? Us too! But we love these juicy refurbished deals, and we built this guide so you can enjoy them with us.
Refurbished basically means that the product has been previously returned to a manufacturer or vendor for various reasons. It may be a floor sample, a never-used product with a box opened by mistake or damaged in shipping, a product with minor cosmetic flaws, or one that has been turned on and immediately switched off. Some of the refurbished products were used and returned within the initial warranty period, in which case they may carry some blemishes. Often the purchase simply did not suit the original owner’s needs. Once the box has been opened companies cannot legally sell these items as New, so a Refurbished label doesn’t necessarily mean that the product was broken or didn’t function as intended.
Often a refurbished product will have an additional two or three rounds of quality and performance checks compared to those on a brand new product, so that all the possible hidden flaws are already discovered and fixed.
It is important to understand that there are always minor risks associated with purchasing a refurbished product. But if minor cosmetic defects or the knowledge of someone touching the product before you don’t bring a frown to your face, more often than not they are by far outweighed by the hefty savings in your wallet.
The main thing you need to know about your refurb of interest: who refurbished it. Refurbished products that have been returned by a customer will be inspected, cleaned, repaired, formatted, and tested for functionality and defects by either the manufacturer or a third party refurbisher that can be either manufacturer-authorized or independent. Let’s break it down.
Another important thing to pay attention to when shopping refurbished is the grade of the refurbished product. For our featured deals and events we only use three, because anything less just doesn’t cut it. Here is what they mean:
Finally, when you’re considering buying a refurbished computer, tablet, or phone, it’s helpful to think about the features and specs you really need vs. the ones you want. You may find that savings offered by refurbished models outweigh the bells and whistles that you wouldn’t really use on a new model. Now that you have the knowledge (which we know is power), go out there and score some major deals!
So enjoy your mind-blowing deal and let us know if you have any questions or just need someone to talk to at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Our fine jewelry pieces are made with only the finest metals, including .925 sterling silver and 10 karat, 14 karat and 18 karat gold.
What do these designations mean?
Metals are mined from the earth in raw form, and jewelers mix the raw metals with certain alloys to make these metals more malleable for the creation of jewelry.
Sterling silver, specifically .925 sterling silver, is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% alloy. This designation is considered to be “fine” silver because of its high purity. Items that are sterling silver are often stamped “925” on the piece to designate higher value.
Fine gold jewelry is described in terms of “karats” or “k”. Just as fine silver is mixed with alloys, so is gold. Gold is a very soft metal in its raw form, so jewelers mix the pure metal with alloys to make it stronger for better wear in jewelry form. The higher the gold karat, the more pure gold is present in the jewelry piece. Because of this, the price can fluctuate drastically from 10k to 18k or 24k.
The chart below shows how these metals vary from each other:
Gold Karat Percentage of Gold Percentage of Alloy 10k 41.70%58.30% 14k 58.50%41.50% 18k 75%25% 24k 100%0%
As it comes out of the ground, gold is naturally very yellow in color. Jewelers create “white” gold by mixing it with different alloys (nickel, palladium) than they use to make “yellow” gold (copper, silver). To enhance the white color, many pieces will be rhodium plated upon completion to retain a vibrant, mirror-like white shine.
We all love diamonds because they sparkle and shine, but it’s important to understand the diamond grading system when buying one, especially when you’re buying online.
There are 4 main facets of diamond buying to focus on. The industry commonly refers to these as “The 4 Cs”: cut, color, clarity and carat.
Cut: This refers to the shape of the diamond and how well it is cut (compared to what is known as an “ideal” cut stone — perfect proportions). An ideal cut stone will sparkle and shine in all the right way, as the facets allow light to shine brilliantly through it.
Color: Diamonds are graded on a scale based on the whitest (colorless) stones to ones that include more of a yellow/brown hue. The grade is designated in a letter, starting with D and going all the way to Z. See chart below for scale.
Clarity: Diamonds are graded on a scale based on how many carbon inclusions or other imperfection they may have inside of them. The highest graded diamond is graded “VVS1” which stands for “very very slightly included.” The lowest grade is “I3” which stands simply for “included.” The more visible inclusion a stone has, the lower clarity grading it will receive. See chart below for scale.
Carat: A carat is a unit of weight measurement. When a diamond is loose, a jeweler can actually weigh the stone on a special scale to determine its carat weight. When a diamond is already set into a piece of jewelry, its carat weight can be approximated by taking its measurements (LxWxH). Carats are abbreviated as “ct” or “cttw” (carat total weight). The larger the carat weight, the bigger the stone is, generally speaking.
